Is a 2 gallon heated aquarium an appropriate home for a Betta fish?
I have a small 2 gallon aquarium, with an airstone under gravel filter system. I know that this tank is useless for most fish and i know it wouldn't be the BEST tank for betta. I bought a heater to keep the water warm and a small silk plant for the tank aswell. I was wondering if anyone thinks this would be a HAPPY home for a betta. I know a betta could SURVIVE in far worse conditions, but i am wondering if he could be happy.
I have not bought a betta yet. I wanted to hear some opinions and make sure all my equipment is working before i go ahead and buy him. I finished setting up the tank, and my heater is keeping the water at 78! (perfect do you think??). It has a pretty little silk plant and all it needs is a beautiful betta, but i do not want to subject a creature to cruelty if people think this tank is just too small.
THIS is my definition of a "HAPPY" fish
Your Betta should be fine in that tank. It's not 'perfect' maybe. but you have temperature, aeration and simple filtering, so all your fish's basic needs are covered. Extra water changes can make up for any shortcomings.
